Why convert JPG to PNG?

PNG is lossless and widely supported by image editors, design tools and apps that expect a non-JPEG input. Converting gives you a clean PNG you can edit and re-save repeatedly without the generational quality loss JPG suffers.

Lossless, but larger

Because PNG stores every pixel exactly, the resulting file is usually larger than the JPG. Note that converting can’t recover detail the original JPG already discarded — it faithfully preserves what’s there. It all runs locally, with no upload.

Frequently asked questions

Are my JPG files uploaded to a server?

No. Everything happens in your browser; your files never leave your device.

Why is the PNG bigger than the JPG?

PNG is lossless and stores every pixel exactly, so for photos it is normally larger than the compressed JPG. That is expected.

Does converting improve quality?

No — it can’t restore detail the JPG already lost. It produces a faithful, lossless PNG of the current image, which is what editors prefer to work from.

Will the PNG have transparency?

No. A JPG has no transparency to carry over, so the PNG is fully opaque. You can add transparency afterwards in an editor.

Can I convert in bulk?

Yes — add many files and download them all as a single ZIP.
